About Johnny P
The Man Behind the Music
Johnny P was born with the blues in his blood and a guitar in his hands. Raised in the heart of Pittsburgh, PA, Johnny grew up on a steady diet of classic blues, rock ‘n’ roll, and soul records spinning in his parents’ basement. Inspired by legends like Muddy Waters, Albert King, and Jimi Hendrix, he taught himself to play by ear—chasing tone, feel, and that ever-elusive truth that lives inside the music.
What started as a teenage obsession quickly became a lifelong mission: to bring real, honest blues to every stage he could find. Over the years, Johnny’s raw playing style, gravel-edged vocals, and magnetic stage presence have earned him a loyal following throughout the Pittsburgh music scene and beyond.
Union Man

For Johnny P, joining the Pittsburgh Musicians Union was another step in honoring the city that shaped his sound. To him, it wasn’t just signing up — it was standing with a community of players who live and breathe their craft. Becoming part of the union meant committing to fairness, professionalism, and lifting up the voices that make Pittsburgh’s music scene what it is. It’s his way of ensuring that every gig, every contract, and every note is backed by the same integrity and grit that define hisblues.
Current Projects
These days, Johnny is bringing his blues straight to the people with his solo performances at Antonio’s Pizza—a local favorite where the vibe is just as warm as the music. Armed with nothing but his guitar and his voice, Johnny strips the music down to its core, creating an intimate experience that lets every note and lyric shine. It’s blues in its purest form—unplugged, unfiltered, and served up with a side of great pizza.
